Gollinghütte is a destination for day-trips as well as trail head for hikes into the Schladminger Tauern mountain range.

Situated just before the valley head at "Gollingwinkel", the hut presents itself in front of the mighty scenery of the "king of the Schladminger Tauern range" - the Hochgolling (2,863 m). The nearby Gollingwinkel forms a natural amphitheatre at the foot of Hochgolling.

There are many possibilites for hikes from Gollinghütte: the ascent to Hochgolling, the ascent to Greifenberg (2,618 m) and the eventual passage over the famous "Klafferkessel", a tour on the trail n° 2 - Central Alpine Trail towards Landawirseehütte or Keinprechthütte - or just filling up your batteries on the sunny terrace at the hut.

The Austrian-Nepalese team in the huts kitchen cares for the well-being of their guests with Styrian delicacies and Nepalese momos.
